See it or Skip it Sunday.

Today is Easter and for most people it means colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, and easter egg hunts.  But Easter is really about the sacrifice that Jesus made for all mankind.  So the movie I pick today for See it or Skip it is The Passion of the Christ (2004).   Mel Gibson directed this controversial film and was criticized for how violent it was and for the depiction of the Jewish role in the death of Jesus.  The depiction of the torture and crucifixion of Jesus was brutal and at times difficult to watch but necessary for people to understand when this man went through.  I was also impressed by the use of ancient languages like Aramaic and Latin in the film.  It bring a sense of historic authenticity to the movie.  If you have not seen this film I recommend you see it once and judge it for  yourself.

I remember people pointing out too that the actor had the same initials as Jesus and that, when the movie came out, the actor was the same age as Jesus when he went through this ordeal.
