As you all know I watch a lot of movie and from time to time as I watch them I see a scene that has the Twin Tower from the World Trade Center in it. Everytime I see them I can help but be moved by the sight of them standing tall and proud.  I thought I would honor the memories of the poeple from that terrible day by sharing some of my favorite movies that showed the twin towers in all their slender.

The first movie I can remember seeing the towers in was the 1976 version of King Kong.  I was just little kid, but the scene at the end of the movie when Kong climbed to the top of the  towers and later falls off and was kill made me cry so much.  I really loved that movie and I still like it better then the more recent version.

I am sucker for futuristic post-apocolypic movie and Escape from New York (1981) is one of my all time favorites.  Early in the movie Snake Plissken (played by Kurt Russell) has to land a glider on top of one of the Twin Towers and of course he just makes it.    I realize that the towers do not look very slended in this movie but they do have a memorable moment in the film.

Even though the towers are not features in Trading Places (1983) with Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd, they do show up near the end of the movie.  You get to see the towers at ground level.  They show the now iconic metal supports called "tridents".  They were such a prominate feature of the build that once you seen them you knew excatly what building you were looking at.

In 2008 a documentary called Man on Wire was released.  It was about a man who walked a high wire that was stung between the two towers from roof to roof.  I would not even walk close to the edge let alone on a cable 110 stories up.  If you have not watch this please take the time to check it out.  It is wonderful story and the footage of the Twin Towers are breathtaking.

I would also like to hornor the memories of the people who were killed at the Pentagon and on United Flight 93.

One of the best movie that takes place at the Pentagon is  No Way Out (1987) with Kevin Costner.  A large percentage of the movie takes place inside the Pentagon.  It really gives you a sense of how big the Pentagon really is.

Of course the only movie I can mention for Flight 93 is United 93 (2006).  It was a very powerful and moving depiction of what occured on the plane and heroic sacrific they made.

Its hard to believe it has been a dacade since that tragic day and I know all of us still remember where we were and what we were doing.  I was working at CompUSA at the time and I remember watching the coverage on the TV's at work and I noticed that we only got 1 or 2 customers in that whole day.  I for one can not wait to see the new World Trade Center.  It will be a beautiful and fitting tribute to the people who lost their lives that day.
